Wanders for Wellbeing – Forest Therapy

Wanders for wellbeing are guided nature connection walks based the practice of Shinrin-yoku (forest bathing). I offer simple invitations to enable you to relax and quieten your busy mind so you can receive the medicine and wisdom of the natural environment.

We will gather and shake off the road dust. I will invite you to step through a gateway and leave behind your burdens and responsibilities for the next couple of hours as we step into the moment, savouring with all our senses the atmosphere of the woods or the gardens at Dartington. I will help you to awaken your senses and creative muse with a series of carefully crafted invitations culminating in a simple tea ceremony.

The route will be no more than a mile, the terrain generally gentle and suitable for all levels of fitness. This is not a hike, or a nature walk where we identify species. It is an opportunity to be fully present in your senses, experiencing the forest from an authentic place of heart with the curiosity of a child. It is deeply relaxing and playful experience as you tune into the plant and animal world with the senses our ancestors used to thrive and survive.

Summer Saunters

Time to dream under the shady green cathedral like spaces created by the trees in their full summer foliage. We may paddle in the river, feeling the flow, releasing our worries and sending our gratitude down stream.

Autumn Ambles

Bewitched by a kaleidoscope of colours, letting our fears fall away with the drifting leaves we shall wander together. The rich scents of leaf litter and fungi ground us. Scent lullabies preparing us to turn inward and take time to rest.

Twilight Wanders

Twilight is a particularly magical time to be outside. As the light ebbs and glows our visual senses take a back step allowing the other senses to rise to the fore. It is a gentle time at the end of a day to set down your burdens and simply be.
