I love to weave vessels and teach others this magical craft – turning fibres and sticks into unique and useful vessels.

Foraging Baskets
On my wanders and journeys I often bring my baskets for folk to gather treasures in as we walk.
On this workshop you will learn how to weave a small gathering basket with a leather or fabric shoulder strap. The basket is woven up from a simple tray base, suitable for beginners to the craft. On the sides you will learn two different types of weave and a simple border. We will be working with willow, but there will be opportunity to personalise your basket through a choice of colours and the addition of some foraged materials from the woods.
The design of the basket is my own, inspired by the shape of old fishing creels. A flat back to rest comfortably against your body with a curved belly to hold your foraged treasures safe. The cross body shoulder strap leaves your arms free to gather and explore.
It’s my pleasure to share this ancient craft with you and all the hidden benefits to wellbeing that weaving out in nature brings.

If you would like to learn how to weave your own foraging basket do get in touch.
Together we can create the most magical basket incorporating elements of your favourite type of tree or perhaps significant treasures gathered on a Creative Journey.

What folks have shared about their experience.
“I just wanted to say a huge thank you for today. Not only have I left with a beautiful basket but I also feel recharged. The creative process is soul soothing and boy did I need soothing.” – Cindy

“We absolutely loved our day with you and are both so delighted with our baskets. Nic is now really excited to build on her basketry skills.
We appreciated your gentle attentive teaching skills, and were blown away by the dose of magic you brought that meant that we left with the perfect baskets for us, very expressive of our individual characters. Amazing how that can be imbued into the basketry process.
I feel it’s the best thing I’ve ever made in a day.”
Many thank yous again”❤️ ❤️😊 Myrtle and Nic
“I thought our attempts would have come out a bit more “rustic” but Emma is an amazing teacher, so calm and funny. We made something personal to us and it’s absolutely gorgeous. By the afternoon we were chatting like old friends and we will have something to treasure for years. I would highly recommend Emma to anyone wanting to give it a try, it’s a lovely way to spend a day.” Kate

” my six year old son and I had a fun day making a beautiful basket with Emma. Emma is patient, hands on and there was a wonderful rhythm to the day. We all enjoyed it thoroughly and would highly recommend. Delicious homemade soup!” Love Irene 2022

Thank you so much, Emma. I had such a lovely day yesterday, making the gathering basket with your ever patient help and instruction. It is a day that will remain strong in my memory for a very long time to come, and I heartily recommend this therapeutic art work to anyone interested in trying something new. The finished work is beautiful; I learnt a lot, and enjoyed your gentle company very much indeed.
