Creative Journeys

About Emma

“I believe Nature needs us and we need to remember we are part of it to find balance, joy and connection in our lives.

Spending time out wandering in the woods offers me a different perspective. I find my thoughts flow easier as I move along and the beings I meet on the way offer their insights when I pause to listen.

I am an artist with a passion for rural craft and a Certified ANFT Nature and Forest therapy guide living and working in Devon, England.

I have had the pleasure and honour to deliver Wanders for Wellbeing and Creative Journeys for the following groups and organisations as well as many individuals privately:

  • The Woodland Trust
  • Dartmoor National Park Authority and Public Health England
  • DrinkWISE AGEwell
  • Schumacher College

“Emma’s approach to developing personal responses to and with the natural world are immersive, gentle but guided. I found her work with a group was intuitive and responsive – allowing people to progress at their own pace. During our short session together with a group Emma was able to help everyone achieve – even those who professed to being ‘not creative’. Personal responses to nature were shared in an open, supportive learning environment; participants were visibly pleased with their work and the reactions from the rest of the group.”

Born in London in 1971, to an English father and an Australian mother, I was blessed with daily childhood visits to Kew Gardens. The smell of their hothouses forever lingers in my scent memory. When I was four years old my family moved to the west coast of Scotland, where I spent the best part of my childhood; climbing the hills, sailing the lochs and exploring the glens.

Due to my mother’s origins I was lucky enough to visit South Australia as a child, where I was overwhelmed by the immense blue skies that contrast with the rich ochres of the land. I believe it was there that I fell in love with nature through my love of colour.
