The Forest speaks – poetry

Here is a growing collection of poems written by participants on their creative journeys with me that I have been honoured to witness and my greatest pleasure to hear.

With kind permission from the writers, some are shared with you below.

Here is a Poem inspired while witnessing the ariel dances of the Swifts and House Martins on our last wander on 8th June 2019 along the banks of the River Dart, by Oli.

Swifts
(Pastiche and Homage to the nature poems of Hillaire Belloc)

The swifts have written on the sky,
Scribbling letter ten feet high;
Though what they say I must confess
I have not words that would express..

They capture all their wingéd art
On canvas blue above the Dart.
Pursuit and catch of gnat and fly
Their punctuation serves; the eye,
Now watering in it’s task to chase
It’s chosen bird, it’s wit and grace..

The word ‘admire’ too little seems,
Yet ‘awe’ too great. Their poetry streams
Through eye to heart, and I transpose
Their lofty script to humble prose.
