This morning I spent some much needed and spacious time in the woods musing. Then I lay on the grass of the recreation ground and felt the earth gently turning as the clouds past over head.
Feeling deeply content in my body and mind from the experience I headed home. Lots of thoughts and plans for my up coming creative journaling with nature course gently drifting through my mind. Knowing the best bits would snag in my memory like sheep wool on a thorn bush to be collected later. This is how I’m working with my mind in these days of Menopause.
In my emails I received a news letter from Emergence magazine containing an essay from Martin Shaw called “Navigating the Mysteries”. I rarely allow myself time to read these inspiring texts, but today I’m feeling really generous with myself (I hope this will continue!) and dived in.
Here is just one of many of it’s parts that struck a cord and I thought to share with you. It is the first of 4 suggestion on hold to approach times of uncertainty.
“Move from seeing to beholding: To see a situation is to catch the facts of the matter. To behold it is to witness the story. If you dwell entirely with statistics and data, you will be a burnt match within months. Move from just seeing the world to beholding the world. Seeing is assessment and analysis; beholding is wonder and curiosity. It’s not that we don’t need the former, but when we crank it up excessively, we always damage the latter. Make space for the miraculous, make space for grace—these energies show up constantly in our lives. To behold them is to bear witness to them. To celebrate them. That’s an infectious and noble position to take. Difficult situations require sustained beholding. They are not necessarily to be dissected or defeated but sat with. Could there be a third way that arises from fidelity of attention?”

If you do read it – there is another part where he talks of his 101 days listening and being in the woods and I thought aha! Forest bathing practice in action. Notice the wisdom and healing that results from this time. Welcoming your thoughts….and
Wishing you all a wonderful week.
