Hello Lovely being,
Spring has really sprung in this last week. I’m always amazed by the speed at which the wild greens grow.
I’ve been enjoying their refreshing scents rising with the warm air as I tiptoe through them to gather nettles and cleavers
The woods are a bloom with celandines, primroses, wood anemones, dog violets and the wild garlic flowers are popping.
I was particularly struck by the abundance of dandelions as I was walking out yesterday. The fields are almost yellow all over with their big Sunny faces.
There’s something about dandelions that just make me grin, and knowing how beneficial they are, I’m wondering, amongst all the flowers that I could be noticing at this time of year, why are they are the ones that are shining and smiling out at me? It feels like a booty call! My body is in need of what they offer..
When listening to your body responses, the all over “yum’ feelings are a great indicator that what catches your attention is what you need.
We are drawn to what we need in this life whether it be for company and entertainment and in terms of plants I believe they’re often waving at us to offer their medicine.
As I sit with Dandelion, I notice how the yellow shining light of them lifts my spirits and I’m filled with a hunger to consume them.
I looked about up at about dandelion and discovered dandelion is very supportive for liver and kidney health which is often something that comes up for me when I go and see a practitioner.
I wonder if there’s a particular spring plant that is catching your attention at the moment and if there is a reason behind this more than the joy of their colour or the beauty of alignment of their petals or the shape of their body.
These beings are always speaking to us.
When we allow ourselves to slow down and connect to nature through our senses, we can begin to hear what they are saying.
Ask your body, what it is about this particular plant kin, that particular tree, that you find most interesting, most curious. What draws your eyes to it again and again.
Is it their shape? an echo of face?
Something about the way they move that resonates with you?
The way the scent stirs your appetite or a memory?
I invite you to just stop and maybe spend some time, as often as you can, just sitting with this plant being in sensory inquiry – noticing how you feel inside.
What you’re drawn to do with your hands?
Where you do you sense them resonating in your body? You may be surprised by what you discover as you spend time together.
On the Journey with the trees, I record an audio for you to connect with the healing energies of the tree each month. These journeys offer the you a space to meet the spirit of the tree and receive guidance from these wise beings.
Getting to know a plant is very much like getting to know a person. It takes time, giving space to listen, meeting often, sharing experiences and exchanging gifts.
I had a lovely chat with an oak tree today. speaking out loud what was on my mind. Feeling the release from voicing my worries out loud and then listening for a response. I received many sensations and the word “appreciation”.
As usual, my beloved hound, Burt, was with me. He leaned heavily against me at one point, as I spoke as if to give me assurance to say I hear you too, I’m here, I love you and then he released his pressure against me, it was a very noticeable moment and I gave great thanks to his presence in my life.
This coming month I have lots of lovely opportunities for you to join me for some nourishing nature connection and creative inspiration.
If you feel that any of these events would benefit somebody you know then please pass the word on.
Wishing you all joy,
from the greenwoods to the sea
Emma
